In Vitro: Tat-beclin 1 is a cellular permeable peptide that can induce autophagy. In a variety of cell lines and primary mouse embryonic fibroblasts, treatment with Tat-beclin 1 induced a concentration-dependent reduction in the number of p62 and the non-lipidized form of LC3, LC3-I was transformed into the lipidized, autophagosome associated form of LC3 and LC3-II. In human primary monocyte derived macrophages, Tat-beclin 1 significantly inhibits HIV-1 replication.
