NH2-PEG-COOH research reagent is a heterofunctional PEG crosslinking agent that can be used to attach functional PEG to biomolecules, particles, and other material surfaces. The carboxyl group reacts with the amine group to form a stable amide bond. It can also react with hydroxyl groups to form unstable ester bonds. On the other hand, amine groups can be used to react with many amine reactive groups, such as succinimide NHS esters, aldehydes, etc. PEG chains between amino and carboxyl groups have better water solubility and flexible ligand length. Pegylation can increase the solubility of the modified material. It can also increase stability and reduce the immunogenicity of pegylated peptides and proteins. In addition, pegylation inhibits nonspecific binding of charged molecules to modified surfaces.
