Moxifloxacin is a novel super-broad spectrum quinolone antimicrobial agent with good antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, chlamydia and mycoplasma. It is widely used in the treatment of acquired pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, acute pharyngitis, acute sinusitis and acute tonsillitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus, influenza bacilli and pneumococcus due to its strong antibacterial activity, wide antibacterial spectrum and few adverse reactions.

 

 

The RC-4 impurity is a moxifloxacin degradation impurity and a specific known impurity in moxifloxacin hydrochloride eye drops. At present, the production of this impurity is difficult and there is no stable supplier, which has caused some obstacles to the quality research of moxifloxacin. Therefore, we carried out a series of studies on this difficulty, and finally obtained the impurity by preparation and separation with a purity greater than 95%.
