Senkyunolide I (SEI, SENI) is an orally active compound extracted from Ligusticum chuanxiong with analgesic, anti-migraine, neuroprotective, antioxidant, and anti-apoptotic activities. Senkyunolide I (SEI, SENI) upregulates the phosphorylation of Erk1/2 and induces nuclear translocation of Nrf2, accompanied by enhanced expression of HO-1 and NQO1. Senkyunolide I (SEI, SENI) increased the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax and inhibited the expression of cracked caspase 3 and caspase 9.
