Withaferin A (WFA) effectively inhibits NF-κB activation by preventing tumor necrosis factor-induced IκB kinase β activation through a REDOX mechanism that is sensitive to thioalkylation. Withaferin A binds to the intermediate filamentous protein (IF) vimentin and has antitumor and antiangiogenic activities. Withaferin A is a steroid-containing ester isolated from Withania somnifera.
