L-Arginine HCl (L-Arg,(S)-(+) -arginine hydrochloride), a nitrogen donor for nitric oxide synthesis, is a potent vasodilator that is insufficient in sickle cell anemia.
Brand: BCM
Target: Amino Acids and Derivatives; Endogenous Metabolite; NO Synthase
Signaling Pathways: Immunology/Inflammation; Metabolism
In Vitro: Oral administration of L-Arginine (0.1 g/kg) for 5 days significantly reduced pulmonary artery systolic pressure in patients with sickle cell anemia. L-Arginine (4 mg/kg/min) treatment for 1 h reduced superoxide production and increased NO accumulation by cNOS in the limbs of rabbits after ischemia/reperfusion. In SV-129 mice, eNOS was upregulated by subcutaneous injection of L-Arginine (2 mg/kg).
Melting Point: 226-230 °C(lit.)
