DSPE PEG amine (DSPe-peg-NH2) is one of the reactive phospholipid PEG reagents, having a reactive primary amine group at the end of a PEG. DSPE (1, 2-distearyl-Sn-glycerol 3-phosphate ethanolamine) is a saturated 18C phospholipid commonly used in liposome synthesis. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) conjugated DSPEs are hydrophilic and hydrophobic and can be used for drug delivery, gene transfection, and biomolecular modification. The pegylation of phospholipids significantly improved the blood circulation time and stability of encapsulated drugs. The amine functionalized DSPE PEG can further modify the PEG lipid through its reactive amino group.

It has applications in medical research, drug release, nanotechnology and new material research, and cell culture. As well as ligand research, peptide synthesis support, grafting polymers, new materials and functional coatings modified with polyethylene glycol and other active compounds.
