Thiorphan, also known as DL-mercapto - 2-benzyl propyl - glycine, is a specific and effective inhibitor of enkephalase at the nanomolar concentration level. It is an inhibitor of neutral endopeptidase, interacts with differentiated cluster 10 (CD10) in bone marrow cells, and may regulate hematopoietic function. Thiorphan is a safe drug for diarrhea. It prevents cortical damage in newborn mice and is an effective treatment for cerebral palsy (CP).
