Chloroquine (NSC-187208, CHQ, CQ) is an antimalarial agent and an inhibitor of autophagy and lysosome. Chloroquine also inhibits the expression of Toll-like receptor-9 (TLR9) protein. Chloroquine is a highly effective anti-SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) infection agent with an EC50 value of 1.13 μM in Vero E6 cells. Chloroquine also has anti-HIV-1 activity.
